Empowering Clients Through Therapy and Life Coaching

Hi! I'm Sarah, a counselling psychotherapist, life coach, couples & family therapist, children & young people counsellor, sex therapist, and kink/BDSM therapist/facilitator.

I take pride in working differently from traditional therapists. I take a realistic, open-minded, supportive approach and bring my whole self to every session by being open and honest about my own experiences.

How can I expect my clients to share their difficulties when I am unwilling to disclose my own?!

I truly empathise with my clients and use my life experiences to aid therapy and build a trusting therapeutic relationship.

I will go above and beyond for my clients and support them in between sessions should they experience times of distress, need additional support, or to share their achievements.

I work using different approaches and integrate various modalities, whichever I feel are best suited to your needs.
I see individual clients, couples, families, and young people of various ages.

Sessions are available in person, online, or by phone in my comfortable counselling room in my home in Yatton, North Somerset, or therapy rooms situated on Whiteladies Road, Bristol.

My home is disability friendly with wheelchair access and everything on one level.  As someone with hidden disabilities, including fibromyalgia, I strive to ensure all my clients have accessibility and comfort when they visit my home.

I offer both long-term and short-term counselling as well as single-session therapy and walk & talk sessions.
A session usually lasts an hour, with flexibility for additional time or longer sessions.

Please note, that when possible, 24 hour notice of cancellation is appreciated. I will try my best to rebook you for the same week if requested.

My Specialties

Explore my diverse therapy and coaching services designed to meet various needs.

Individual Therapy

I offer support that is individually tailored for each of my clients. I help those seeking personal growth, healing, and acceptance.  My main aim is for every client to leave our therapeutic journey owning their uniqueness, having fully accepted themselves and events they have been subjected to. Empowerment is my favourite word!

Couples & Family Therapy

I am trained in couples and family therapy. I guide couples and families through conflicts and help them work towards healthier relationships and better communication.  I  work with couples & family members individually  and  together. I am able to view each person as an individual and remain unbiased. I have experience working with infidelity, family dynamics, generational trauma, and conflict. I can help you work towards a resolution or face the possibility of separating.

Young Peoples Therapy

I completed my stage 1 children and young people training and I am working towards my stage 2 qualification. I currently have experience working with 11-18 year olds. I am able to help young people explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. I regard all young people as equals and talk to them  as adults. Afterall, they are the experts on themselves! I give young people the respect they deserve . I recognise that their struggles are  valid, relevant, and important. This allows us to connect, develop trust, and talk about any subjects they wish to.

Life Coaching

As someone who only realised their full potential in my late 40's, I understand how difficult it can be to find yourself at a crossroads in life. During these times it can be hard to know what is the right decision to make. I can help you explore your options, find your strengths, and discover your true vocation in life. I can help you find solutions, support you with education and retraining. I can provide career advice and guidance in making life choices. I can also help with forms, CV's, benefit claims, budgeting, and the dreaded neurodivergent forms!

Trauma

I have lived experience of childhood abuse, trauma, sexual abuse, and abusive relationships. I have supported many clients through their past and present traumas. I cannot make your trauma disappear, but I can help you to accept it, shift the blame, guilt you may feel, and the shame you have lived with. You did not ask for your trauma. It has often been forced upon you by others. What happened to you is not your fault! Enough is enough!!! It's time to take back your power  and stop giving it to those who are truly to blame!

Sex therapy

Let's talk about sex, baby! That taboo subject many of us struggle to talk about! I offer an accepting, open-minded attitude towards sexual issues. I provide clients with a safe, knowledgeable space where individuals and couples can talk about sexual problems. I have experience with ED, loss of sex drive, sexual identity, polyamorous & monogamous relationships, and sexuality. As a pansexual kink lover, I know the impact sexual issues can have on  individuals and couples. Talking about these issues can be embarrassing and extremely difficult. This can impact us to the point of trying to solve the problem ourselves or not addressing the issue at all.  Talking about it can remove the huge weight you have been carrying around with you and lead to discovering solutions.

Kink/fetish therapy

I am a kink-positive therapist with years of both lived experience  and training in kink, BDSM, and fetishism. You are free to talk to me about anything! Nothing is off-limits or will shock me! I know only too well the shame and guilt that can accompany the desire to live out our kink/fetish. I can help you explore what is behind your kink/fetish. We can then work towards accepting that it is part of who you are.  As a dominatrix, part of my role involves  psychological and mental wellness. I have many satisfied clients who I have helped accept and live out their fetish safely and privately.

Mental illness specialist

I have personal experience of living with Borderline Personality Disorder/Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD/BPD). I was diagnosed with EUPD in 2017. I have worked hard to understand, accept, and manage it. You can too!!! I support clients with BPD/EUPD and other mental illnesses. I also support their partners, friends, and families by helping them understand the condition. I offer coping skills, a safe space to offload and talk about how they are being affected.  I also have experience of living and working with clients with bipolar, DID, ODD,  OCD, psychosis, and schizophrenia. I have full training in mental illnesses and wellness. I can help clients recognise their symptoms and discuss the criteria for a diagnosis.  I can support clients  throughout the  diagnosis process. However, I cannot make a formal diagnose.

LGBTQIA+

I am fully supportive of the LGBTQIA community, a passionate trans ally, and a proud member of the LGBTQIA community. I have experience working with transgender men, transgender women, crossdressers, bisexual, gay, pansexual, demisexual, A sexual,  and non-binary clients. I have supported trans friends before, during, and after their transition. I have been in relationships with men, women, crossdressers, and transgender  women. I volunteered for Weston Pride and support many LGBTQIA events. I also support and attend the local monthly transgender/crossdresser support groups.

ADHD & Autism

As a neurodivergent myself, I have faced the reality of living with late-diagnosed combined ADHD and now high functioning autism. I know how difficult it can be to accept the possibility of being neurodivergent. The frustration of seeking a diagnosis and accepting the outcome. I  have supported many neurodivergent clients and their loved ones. I can offer coping skills, and  help you to understand and accept your uniqueness. I also work with neurodivergent clients and support them through difficult times and past issues.  I understand how having both ADHD and autism can present differently.

Grief and loss

We often experience grief and loss in different ways. As someone who lost their mother as a teenager, I know only too well how the effects can still be present many years later. I help my clients through unresolved grief and to rebuild their lives around their loss. However, it is not just people or pets we grieve for. Loss can include losing who we are because of illness, disability, and job loss. We can also grieve for the life we didn't have or for the life we should have experienced. I support clients through their loss and grief to help them accept and understand the effects. This can often lead to them finding peace and enjoyment once again.

Stress, anger, anxiety, depression

We often don't realise the impact stress, depression, and anxiety can have on our life. We can feel that being stressed, anxious, or depressed is normal. Everyone gets stressed, depressed, or anxious at some point! However,  ignoring the signs can lead to health issues, mental fatigue, and breakdowns. Anger issues often develop when we are overwhelmed and have too much to deal with. Anger scares people. What if we can't control our anger and do something terrible? Stress and anxiety can lead to outbursts of anger. It is such a strong emotion which can be very destructive, but also very productive with the right help. I can offer clients coping skills to help with stress, depression, and anxiety. To challenge and change their mindset. I can offer breathing exercises to manage anxiety. I also work with depression and finding the root cause. I have battled with depression, anger, and anxiety for many years. I know how crippling it can be. You don't have to manage alone.

Real Clients Testimonials

The following testimonials are from past and present clients using their own words.

                  Dan

I reached out to Sarah at a time when I wasn't sure who to turn to. I needed to open up about some deeply personal aspects of my life as a man-thing, I had only ever shared with one other person, and even then, not to the extent I did with Sarah.

Leading up to our first therapy session, I was nervous. But those fears quickly faded. The experience was incredibly emotional, yet overwhelmingly positive and life-affirming.

Sarah truly listened and helped me navigate complex thoughts and emotions. She has the experience and insight to understand some of the most personal parts of my life-including a significant  relationship, and key aspects of my sexuality. I'm deeply grateful for her empathy and support. So much so, I have already booked my next appointment.

From the very beginning, I felt safe and at ease in her presence-able to talk freely and without judgment.

Even now, I continue to feel the positives effects. I wholeheartedly recommend Sarah. She's had a meaningful impact not only on one very special relationship in my life, but also on me as a person. The change has been profound.

Hi Sarah.

I wanted to write to you to say thanks for all of your help and support.

In  the few months since we last met, I have continued to gain confidence, often remembering the techniques that you suggested during therapy.

Having been in therapy before, I found your friendly, open minded approach to my problems was refreshing and inspirational. It was important to me as a transgender woman to have a therapist who cared about trans issues and rights. Without a doubt, you are an extremely passionate advocate for all LGBTQIA people.

Most importantly, your understanding of my deepest, darkest thoughts has allowed me to grow and thrive.

I can truly say that your understanding, patience, and confidence in me has changed my world for the better.

With love, thank you.

Jane
